Cost modeling for the Impact Building Calculator is supported by both industry-wide and SE specific data. The cost model is regionalized and available in many currencies.
ECCM Implementation Costs
SE Measures
The investment required for SE solutions are based on reference architectures and scalable cost models using geographically-specific data from SE's database of project costs, collected from across the organization's team of solutions and system architects and pricing experts.
Envelope and Glazing Upgrades
Generic building envelope upgrades are based on the same building prototypes as the baseline energy model, using data from RSMeans. These estimates were performed by a cost estimator internal to SE.
Annual Energy Use Costs
Annual energy costs are based on country-level data as of 2023. We assume no year-over-year utility rate escalation, have no breakout for demand charges or time of use, and perform no discounting to determine net present value. More detailed energy cost modeling may be available in a future versions, if you would like to request these features, please reach out.

The Calculator does all internal calculations in Euros, converting to other currencies at standard rates established at the beginning of 2024.
Cost Regionalization
Cost calculations are regionalized using data from RSMeans. These data are used to increase or decrease the base cost calculations in the tool using a region-specific percentage factor. For regions beyond the United States, RSMeans is used to develope proxy regionalization factors informed by the development team's professional judgement.
