Goal and Scope

The asset and portfolio analysis within the Impact Building Calculator combines results from millions of energy models, carbon data from the C.Scale API, and a cost model developed specifically for each ECCM.

Goal

The goal of this tool is to support strategic retrofit planning and the inclusion of relevant Schneider Electric products in those retrofit plans by providing data on how they can lower energy use, carbon emissions and cost. The tool supports data-driven decision making and provides transparency in the expected performance of its solutions, extending Schneider's competitive advantage while supporting the modernization of the built environment through digital-first retrofits of existing buildings.

Scope

Asset and Portfolio analysis in the Calculator includes data on cost, whole life carbon emissions, and energy use. It uses time series analysis to study the impact of ECCMs over the designated time horizon based on implementation year.

Additional information on the scope of analysis is provided in the methodology section below.

Uses and Limitations

This tool is not a replacement for your professional judgement.

The Impact Building Calculator is a robust tool to approximate results from these methodologies. When using results from the tool in client-facing conversations, caution should be taken to confirm the tool's results against common sense, local regulations, the specifics of the building asset in question, and client expectations.

This is a comparative tool for decision making, not an absolute source of truth.

This analysis is meant to support directionally accurate decisions, not provide a verified source of truth. Comparisons between scenarios describe general patterns, but may not be reflect the idiosyncrasies of a particular building. In many cases, a more detailed and customized analysis will be the next step following the tool.
